here is different locations of where i could possibly take pictures of my cover star. i have looked into different abandoned warehouses, fields, woods and colorful buildings. this would be good for any location because my pop artists could pull of looking nice and posing correctly. these locations would go well with my masthead and cover lines. these colours used in the locations could be also used in my star' clothes and coverings

i am looking further into mastheads, billboard has caught my attention and has allowed me to have an interest.  I like this type of magazine because the main image is drawing us in and the masthead is effective because it goes well with the background as it compliments the main image. it also allows the use of direct address to be effective and strong which creates a relationship with the celebrity Justin bieber and the audience. i would like to replicate this  billboard masthead as it is effective and could also work with my final front cover as it will compliment the cover lines and main image

I am looking to replicate this in my final magazine and make a look alike of similar artist like Katy Perry as they bring attention and fame, which draws the attention of the audience. will be looking into more artists like this and similar layouts because i wish to create a similar music magazine front cover.

Here i have looked at the magazine Vibe as i like how it is presented and i believe it will look good with my type of  music magazine.

I wanted to use this because it looks like as professional and serious masthead, i want to use this because i think it will work extremely well with my music magazine, i believe it will go well with my cover lines, main cover-line and also main image. i would like to portray this in my music magazine because i think it will go well with what i will use ie how my star will look and other fonts on the magazine

This is how i expect my magazine front cover to look like. i have set it out like this because it will look professional and exciting to look at. i have included such things as a puff to interest the reader and make them want to read on. i have set out my cover lines like this because i believe having information on both sides of the magazine makes it look full of information and gossip. the main image will cover the majority of the magazine because i want my magazine star to be focused on.

here i am looking at a contents page. i will be relating to this page in a future post as this is how  will getting my ideas of how things wile be lay out. i will be using a similar lay out such as a few images content and the page numbers which will be in the content. i will be using important bright colours such as this magazine and hope to use colours such as white, purple, red, blue and green because these colours are bright and make a magazine content page look attractive,

here I have looked into Nathan skyes because if my star for my magazine front cover is male i would like him to replicate this image and type of look because he looks cool and professional I like the black and white effect here in these images and I am looking at how i can replicate this with different types of lighting ect. I like his style in clothing and if my star would be happy wearing this I would like to see if it would work with my magazine and layout. I also like how Nathan doesn't make much eye connect with the camera; I like this because it creates a distant relationship with the reader/ audience which makes them feel involved because hey ask them selves is he okay or why inst he looking at the camera, is he shy or does he have something to hide?.. this brings attention and questions which allows the magazine to be new, fresh and exciting. I would like to experiment with this because if it works with my magazine front cover star it could be extremely effective.

Rita Ora comes across as a beautiful young intendant woman, she is a star and idol to many individuals across the world. i would like to portray this in my magazine as not only is she a beautiful woman she inspires people and grabs the audiences attention straight away. I would like to replicate this in my own creation into my magazine. make up- her make up is very specific and effective, the use of eye liner and blusher used on her eyes and cheek bones allows her to come across more appealing and attractive. I like how she has used pink as well as black on the eyes as it suggests she is devious but also caring and loving. her hair is wavy and hanging down low, her hair looks effective in this photo because it is well presented and goes well with her facial expressions. Rita Ora pulls a slight pouting face which allows her appeal to yet again come of strong and pretty. i like her white dress as it compliments her skin and makes her look more like a model. the background colours i especially like because it is so colourful and allows the main image to stand out and blossom, the use of blue and pink are nice peaceful colours, they really compliment the image and allow the use of direct address to come across strong. over all I would like to replicate and take similar ideas from this into my own magazine if my star is a female, because it is colourful and vibrant.

i would like to replicate this type of image for my magazine as he looks cool and smart. although many pop artists wear fancy normal clothes Justin wears smart formal clothes mostly the time. i like this as it draws attention to the magazine and therefore bringing attention from the readers.

 i like the use of direct address as it creates a relationship between he star and the reader, this allows the reader to want to buy the magazine and read about him. i like how the black and white effect is used as it looks professional and if this suites my theme for my star i wish to replicate an idea of this.

Here is James bay, in these photographs he presents himself as a confident young man and he inst shy of the camera, i would like to present this in my magazine because i believe it will attract and draw in readers. he uses a key element of direct address which creates a relationship between him the star and the viewer; this therefore make the reader feel as if they are involved and they then want the magazine. i  like the style of clothing and hats James Bay uses in these photos as they are effective and are cool they present a sense of swag and he looks relaxed. i want to relate this to my magazine and hope to re act it as it makes the audience feel relaxed with him and part of the magazine.

Here is a selection of pictures of the artist 'The Weekend'. i like his type of artist because he gives off a swagger and coolness that allows us to be like him and dress like him. the use of direct address in some of these pictures are strong and catch the readers attention. this is something i would like to replicate in my magazine because it draws in the audience and makes them focus on the main image; the use of direct address is so strong because he looks directly into the camera which creates a relationship between himself and the audience/reader. 

I like the colour of the pictures on a whole because the black and white theme presents a pattern throughout and is attractive. The black and white effect is not as popular for other pop artists such as Katy Perry as she uses colorful backgrounds and dresses but in this picture we see that he is wearing a lot of dark colours which suggests to us that he has a dark ad mysterious side. i hope to replicate this in my magazine if it is appropriate to the theme and artist.

i like this magazine and hope to replicate something like this into my type of magazine. i like the house colours used blue and white as it shows purity and peacefulness. i like how the magazine looks ripped and thee are two other Tinie Tempers in the back. i really like this as it stands out and is different therefore the magazine on a whole looks new and fresh. i like how the cover lines and main cover line are presented as they are spaced out and are clearly presented for the audience to read. it also publicizes  the main cover star Tinie as it states bis name in bold. I am looking to do this for my magazine cover as it grabs the readers attention.

this magazine is particularly interesting as the main draws people in and brings attention to the magazine. the cover lines are effective in such a way that they are bright and bold, the large font really stands out, the use of space between the cover lines is good because they are not too close together and not too far away therefore creating a magazine that looks full. i like how the main image is over the masthead creating the main image to be brought forward. the use of house colours used are really effective and colorful, the use of whit and red suggest to us that he has a dark evil side that we don't know, and the white colours suggest a peaceful calm side. although the black background suggests something we have never seen before. i hope to apply these types of techniques into my magazine front cover as these techniques are effective and stand out to the audience/reader.

layout experiment

In this exercise I had the opportunity to create various music magazine with different genres ie groups, solo artists and also different areas such as R and B and pop. These magazines have enabled me to think of how I am going to set out my magazine and what colours I shall use. This is appropriate to my magazine because my magazine front cover will also include a masthead, headline,cover lines,bar codes and a main image. the imagery  has also allowed me to picture how and what i want my star to wear and look like.

Sound magazine- i have put the cover lines on the left and not so much to the middle or right because i didn't want to black out the whole image. i have made the colours of the cover lines in red and blue. i did this because i believe it was attractive and different therefore it could attract attention. the red implies seriousness and the blue text suggests hey have done something good as it is a positive colour. The star symbolizes a prize therefore ii made it relatively big to show the  reader they have something to win. the star is in white to make sure it stands out.

BJORK magazine- I have used white writing for my cover lines because i believe it contrasts with the background and allows the main image to stand out. i have positioned the cover lines on the rght of the magazine front cover because i believe it draws the attention of the reader, the cover lines are well spaced out and allows the reader to focus on not only the main image but also the gossip. I have created the masthead to in that type of font because I goes with the theme and also reflects the craziness of the main image.

Drake magazine- i have positioned the cover lines o both sides of the magazine. on the right side it gives details about drake and his advice where as on the left it talks about exclusives and his newest songs. i have chosen to put the font colour for the cover lines in black because it matches his t shirt and i wanted the audience to keep thinking of Drake as they read. i have chosen to create the masthead in a blue colour because i wanted more than just black theme, this also allows us to think of a positive side to drake.

Towers magazine- I have used white colours for the cover lines because it represents a peaceful and calm side to the group. the cover lines are located on both sis of the magazine because when i was creating the cover lines on only the right side, the magazine on a whole was left empty and blank, therefore i decided to put cover lines on both sides so that the magazine looked full of gossip and information. The mast head is in yellow because it brings life and happiness to the magazine therefore people will be attracted to it. I also believe the magazine masthead is very effective because the font i have created for it stands out and draws attention.

Pitch magazine- The Marilyn Manson magazine is effective because the white ad yellow cover lines allow the main image to stand out nd be focused on. i have chosen to create the cover lines in yellow and white because it brings attention, it will allow the reader to focus on the gossip/news whilst having the glaring face looking at them. I created the main cover line to be red and white because it represents two things which many people say don't match which is danger and purity, i have chosen this as it will make the reader think about why these colours have been matched together and why the main image represents them. The main cover lines are also effective as they make us think to ourselves is this really real? and how? these questions are asked because of the words 'back from the dead'. this quote brings attention and focus on the magazine overall creating readers to be interested.

these two celebrities in these photos represent different things such as; Iggy Azalea shows direct address to engage the reader and shows us that she is a confident individual. she strikes the pose of her arms crossed which symbolizes sass. we are directed in this photo to her tattoo which shows us that she wanted iy to be shown off, she looks very comfortable in  her jersey which implies she is a cool and relaxed individual, this makes us feel drawn towards the magazine as it makes us think why is she so comfy, what gossip has she got. i would like to apply this to my magazine star because it will allow the audience to feel relaxed and invited to pick the magazine up and read it.

Nicki Minaj on the other hand does not show direct address which immediately is she okay? what is wrong with her?  although this is not a bad thing that she doesn't use direct address because in a way we are drawn towards her more than Iggy Azalea because more questions are asked. I could use this for my magazine front cover as it shows a strong impression and therefore and attractive magazine. I also like the use of the black and white effect, it shows us that maybe she is going through a bad time because of the darkness, this could possibly be backed up with the fact she is looking away, this suggests darkness and sadness. I will be looking at whether i should use this for my magazine front cover because it shows a strong message which brings in attention and therefore readers.

I am still currently looking into pop artists as i will be trying to replicate this image for my magazine star. Demi Lovato in this picture suggests a fierce side due to her facial expressions and pose. I would like to replicate this in my magazine because this close up really draws us in, therefore creating an inviting picture. The use of direct address  strong as Demi looks right at us creating a relationship between herself and the reader. the tattoos on her arm stand out and suggest she wants to fly away from all the commotion and stress. This image has an immediate impact on the reader, I will be hoping to replicate something like this in my magazine as it is exclusive and attractive.

peer assessment

From my peer assessment feedback on my five magazine front covers where explored with different layouts. The improvements I need to do from feed back include different elements from the magazine front covers.
Sound magazine- From the Sound magazine I believe I need to add more text/cover lines to make sure the magazine looks full and exploding full of information. The star with the information about the prize should be smaller as it is taking up too much room and takes focus off the main image. although there were good elements to the magazine because the masthead was appropriate to the magazine and the cover lines were located sensibly as they don't cover all of the main image.


BJORK magazine- from the Bjork magazine next time i need to add just a few more cover lines and maybe a puff to allow the magazine to stand out more and catch the viewers attention. the positive side to this magazine is that it looks professional and eye catching; the black and white colours are effective and grab our attention straight away. the masthead is also effective because it follows the theme and looks cool as part as the magazine.


Drake magazine- this drake magazine needs improvements for the next time. the cover lines need sorting out as they look all over the place and not in designated places to allow the magazine o look professional. the masthead alos needs to change colour as it is the only blue colour on the magazine and many can argue it looks odd and not part of the magazine. the positive for this magazine is that the exclusive and power 30 looks professional and effective as it shows efficiency.

Towers magazine- the cover lines on this magazine need to be re constructed as the positioning of the cover lines are not effective nor professional, they looks clustered, therefore the next time i create a magazine i will make sure the cover lines are spaced out. the positives for this magazine is the masthead, it looks effective and is an eye catcher, it is unusual but effective because it grabs our attention, therefore creating an interesting magazine.

Pitch magazine- in this magazine i could have included a puff or a pug to make sure the magazine is more effective. i could have also created more cover lines on both sides of the magazine to make sure the magazine front cover looked full. the positives of the magazine is the main cover line as it stands out and grabs the readers attention right away.
